Pamplona cops face
blank wall on man's slay
BY RENE GENOVE

The police in Pamplona town continue to face a blank wall on the killing of a retired employee of the Philippine National Oil Company-Energy Development Corp., last week, in the kitchen of his parents' house in Brgy. Abante, Pamplona, Oriental Negros.

Up to press time yesterday, the police had not received any tip and no witnesses have come forward to identify the person who shot point blank and killed Venancio Divinagracia, 57, married to a midwife of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, and residing at Perpetual Help road in Dumaguete City.

Police said Divinagracia had been in his parents' house in Abante for a week and was cooking dinner in the kitchen when an unidentified man appeared from the dark.

After subduing Divinagracia at gunpoint, the intruder also fired at his mouth. The gunman fled then.

Relatives rushed Divinagracia to the NOPH but he died a few minutes later. The motive for the killing remains unknown, police said.*RG
