Missionaries conduct
medical-dental mission

A missionary group recently conducted a medical and dental mission Saturday in Barangay Piapi, the third largest barangay in Dumaguete City.

About 200 residents of the barangay availed of free medical and dental check-ups, tooth extraction and circumcision, among others.

A total of 21 male children availed of the free circumcision with free anti-biotics for one week. More would have wanted to avail of the free services but the group ran out of anesthesia.

In charge of the "libreng tuli" program was Dr. James Rosales.

More than 30 barangay residents have also availed of the free tooth extraction services, while the rest were given free medical check-ups, free medicines and vitamins.

Volunteer doctors from Cebu were Noe Ugarde, Cheryl Dionson, Lolita Abella Libres, Linda Faith Balugo, Buds Gestopa and Nellie Grado.

The pharmacist was Imelda Malinao.

The mission was undertaken by the Care Channels Inc. that provided the medicines and volunteer doctors from Cebu and Oriental Negros.

The head of Care Channels Inc., Simon Sim, told the DAILY STAR that the Singaporean mission is happy to share what they have to the less fortunate constituents in any barangay being referred to them.

Local coordinators of Care Channels Inc. are couple Steve and Chona Gervacio, who reside in Piapi.*
