Names of additional voters have been listed in the official registration
records of the Commission on Elections in Dumaguete City as of yesterday.
The COMELEC office in Dumaguete City has added 2,224 new registrants,
including transferees, from the previous number of registered voters
in Dumaguete, of 56,750 as of March this year.
The registration is part of the continuous registration program
of the poll body that started in July, 2005.
The COMELEC provincial office has also started the verification
and validation of signatures gathered during the so-called people's
initiative in Oriental Negros, recently.
COMELEC regional director, Manuel Advincula, however, reiterated
that his instruction to field officers was not to conduct the verification
process unless they received a formal letter request from groups
that have initiated the signature campaign.
Advincula met with election field officers of the province
to share with them recent developments vis-à-vis moves to amend
certain provisions of the 1987 Constitution.
Meanwhile, Jose Senador of the BIR said the ITR is one of
the most easy to collect form of taxation by the government, because
of the withholding tax, and it has contributed a substantial amount
for the lifeblood of the government.
The BIR has also implemented the so-called substituted filing
for employees, where the tax due is equivalent to the withholding
tax for employees with one source of income and with one employer.
A tax center is also established in front of Lee Super Plaza,
in Dumaguete to accommodate the taxpaying public.
Revenue examiners are also deployed in authorized banks to
collect non-payment returns and refundable returns. These are the
