Julio Garnica of Bago City Bowlers Association/Plaza
Arcade, and Firefly bet Tess Robles, downed their respective opponents
to win the master bowler competition of the ongoing Knights of Columbus
5665 Invitational Open Bowling Tournament at the New Top's Millennium
Plaza in Bacolod City.
Garlica who topped the elimination phase and
earned the twice-to-beat incentive, crushed Allan Baer, of TC Silverado
Active Solid Strikers, 115-111, for the master's title, as Robles
defeated Corazon Romero, of ON-BACIBA, 129-104, for the women's
plum.
For his part, Baer, ripped Norman Pineda, of Barangay
1/ASSFBI in the semis, 109-103, after Pineda subdued Pete Aplaon
in the quarterfinals, 124-112.
Top qualifier, Sylvia Del Rosario overwhelmed
Lars del Castillo in the women's bracket, 109-95. However, she bowed
to Romero in the semis, 103-141.
The other qualifiers but failed to make it in
the round of four were Fred Trecho, of TC Silverado/ASSFBI, Hernand
Garciniego, of NPBC LJP Trading Tough Trucks; Boy Conag, Urban Knights;
Boy Tisoy Villanueva, Active Solid Strikers; Celso Serfino, Knights
of Columbus, and Dan Divinagracia in the men's division;
Jukiet Regollo, Lady Circle; Tess Aplaon, Lady Circle;
Susan Robles, NPBC Kusina Trese; Sharon Janelo, and Margie Bayog.*

get IBP assistance
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Negros Occidental
Chapter has assigned four of its members to assist troopers of the
Bacolod City Police Office, an IBP press release said yesterday.
The lawyers are Ronnie Casusapin, Romeo Flora,
Jerry Llena and Ernesto Treyes.
They will help the Bacolod policemen in the preparation,
drafting and review of pleadings, motions, papers and documents;
legal research; review and evaluation of evidence; and interview
of the witnesses, if necessary, on cases being faced by members
of the Philippine National Police in the city, the press release
said.
The IBP-Negros, headed by William Mirano, tasked
the four lawyers through an approved resolution during their meeting
on March 10.
Senior Supt. Pedro Merced, police city director,
acknowledged the concern of the IBP for the plight of the members
of the local police force, the press release added.*
