Contract signing for
new scholars slated

The signing of scholarship contracts for the 104 new grantees of the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program, will be held at 8 a.m., April 17, at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol, in Bacolod City, a Capitol press release said.

Gov. Joseph Maraņon and Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco, chairman of the Scholarship Committee, will sign the contracts and give the certificates of scholarship at a program with the grantees and their parents, it also said.

The incoming college freshmen will be categorized under the following scholarships: District Educational Scholarship, Pagka-on Scholarship, Negros Occidental Provincial Medical and Nursing Scholarship, and Provincial Educational Assistance for Capitol Employees.

Negros scholars, Michelle Venice Lee, who graduated cum laude in B.S. Nursing at the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod and Johnny Balidion, magna cum laude in B.S. Agriculture at the University of the Philippines, will give testimonials at the program.

Also, all the nine Negros scholars at the Aklan State University graduated with honors. They are Julie Elejay - magna cum laude, and with cum laude honors: Mycel Boris, Katherine Day Saturnino, Rio Dunque, Jona Carag, Medory Jean Dalisay, Jesshel Olasa, Romel Andres Solidum, and Jerame Lauren. Lee, with Jahaziel Tapang who graduated cum laude in Bachelor of Elementary Education at the Philippine Normal University, paid a courtesy call on Gov. Maraņon, Friday, the press release added.*
