The Land Transportation Office is studying the possibility of
granting provisional authority to operate to victims of fake franchises
in Bacolod City, Councilor Dindo Ramos said yesterday.
Ramos said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory
Board has not yet resolved the problem of fake franchises and there
is a need for it to issue an order or memorandum circular on the
matter.
He said he will meet LTFRB regional director Porferio Clavel
on May 3 on this.
As far as LTFRB 6 is concerned, we are doing everything to
legalize the franchises but there are certain requirements to be
complied with, Clavel had said.
Meanwhile, Ramos urged drivers to document their complaints
against deputized agents of the LTO, after Jose Salvacion, president
of the Villamonte Tricycle Drivers group, complained that deputized
agents are not courteous when they apprehend traffic violators.
LTO-Bacolod head Norman Saril said his office had authorized
deputized agents in mobile patrols to augment the organic members
of the LTO in apprehending traffic violators.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod Housing Authority is processing the
application for relocation of qualified families residing in five
puroks that have pending demolition orders in court, Councilor Jude
Thaddeus Sayson said yesterday.
Sayson, chairman of the SP Committee on Housing, said the
BHA is ready to help residents of Purok Nami-Nami in Barangay Banago,
Purok Riverside in Bata, Purok Sisi in Singcang-Airport and Purok
Yansonville in Mandalagan for possible relocation in the city's
housing site in Vista Alegre.
Sayson said the SPCMA properties in Purok Nami Nami and Purok
Riverside have the biggest number of affected families.
The relocation site for qualified residents is ready in case
the demolition order is implemented, Sayson said.
He said residents of the four puroks were able to get a reprieve
with the help of lawyers in the Public Attorney's Office, who helped
them apprise the situation. *CPT
