The Dumaguete City Council has passed a resolution commending
Gov. George Arnaiz and the members of Task Force 24 for their "relentless
effort" to curb criminality and maintain peace and order in Dumaguete
and its neighboring municipalities.
Sponsored by Councilor Esperidion Catan, the resolution that
was passed during the session of the council Thursday, noted that
the task force "has tremendously contributed to the curtailment
or reduction in the incidence of crime and in subsequent arrests
of criminals."
A brainchild of Arnaiz, the task force, which was created more
than a year ago, is composed of the different law enforcement agencies
of the government. Catan added that Task force 24 was created and
organized to serve as deterrent against the rising rate of criminality
and to eradicate professional jealousy and rivalry among the various
government law enforcement agencies.
Also during the session, members of the council indicated
their willingness to extend financial support to the Task Force.
Vice Mayor William Ablong said the council may also extend financial
allowance to the task force members. Ablong said that it is possible
that some amount can be set aside for incentive to assets and for
mobility.*RA
