Raw sugar prices
still above P1,200

Millgate prices of "B" or raw sugar eased at the bidding on Thursday, leveling between P1,215 and P1,280 per P50-Lkg, data of the Sugar Master Plan Foundation show.

On March 30, prices went as high as P1,298 per lkg. from only between P1,200 and P1,254 on March 23.

This week, BISCOM disposed its stocks at P1,263.35 per Lkg (high) and P1,245.15 (low); Hawaiian-Philippine Company, P1,280; SONEDCO, P1,215;

VMC, P1,215; CADP, P1,255 (high) and P1,235 (low); BUSCO, P1,245; Passi I and Passi II, P1,262, and Pilar, P1,252.

BISCOM disposed a total of 5,723.25 Lkgs.; HPCO, 25,353.63; SONEDCO, 9,852.64; and VMC, 11,048.34 Lkgs.

Lopez Sugar Corp. and Sagay Central Inc. did not participate at Thursday's bidding while Dacongcogon already ended its milling season at the end of March and Central Azucarera de Carlota, on April 3.

In a separate price monitor, prices of "A" or US quota sugar ranged between P1,020 and P1,078 per Lkg. while molasses was sold at above P4,850 per pound.*NLG
