The Philippine Army yesterday disowned the "order of battle"
allegedly drawn up by the Armed Forces Central Command, that contained
the names of top CPP-NPA personalities in Visayas, and included
a Negrense broadcaster.
Maj. Lyndon Sollesta, commander of the Army Civil Relations
Group in Visayas, stressed that Julius Mariveles is not included
in the alleged military OB (order of battle) as earlier reported,
much more the NUJP (National Union of Journalists in the Philippines.
Mariveles who has been employed by DYEZ Aksyon Radyo since
2003, was listed in the alleged CENCOM order of battle for the first
semester of 2005 as secretary general of partylist Bayan Muna.
Sollesta said the report is being circulated by the enemy affiliated
groups with sinister motive to drag NUJP against the military.
He added that the NUJP should insulate its ranks against possible
enemy infiltration.
Mariveles, who was secretary general of Bayan-Negros and not
Bayan Muna, said that while he welcomed the development, he will
still go through the normal process by sending letters to concerned
government agencies, to clear his name.
The Article 3, an alliance of several media groups in Negros
Occidental, joined Mariveles in demanding that his name be stricken
off the military list.
While Col. Jerry Jalandoni, newly-installed Negros military
commander, assured his safety, Mariveles said the verbal assurance
is not enough as the threat remains until his name is removed from
the list.
Sollesta said they are still verifying the source of the alleged
CENCOM order of battle.*GPB
