Bacolod bags
3 national awards

The Bacolod City government will receive awards of excellence for three of its projects in the 41st Anvil Awards for 2006, held recently in Manila, by the Anvil Awards Committee and the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.

These are the INSUMIX Feeding Program, One-Stop Shop and the MassKara Festival, a press release from city hall said.

To receive the awards at rites to be held at 7 p.m., today, at the Mabuhay Hall of the Manila Hotel will be Mayor Evelio Leonardia and his wife, Elsa, and Teresa Galon for the INSUMIX Feeding; Ardis Jaculina for the One-Stop-Shop; and Eli Tajanlangit for the MassKara Festival, the press release said.

The feeding program was for pre-school and school children, and indigent senior citizens; the One-Stop-Shop was for the convenience of entrepreneurs wanting to renew their business licenses; and the Masskara Festival was for reinventing the annual fiesta of the city that capped its Charter Day celebration, in October, the press release said.

Vicente Del Fierro, Jr. is the chairman of the 41st Anvil Awards, that has been held for the last 49 years in line with the goals of the United Nations Millennium Development.

Former senator Heherson Alvarez was the chairman of the Board of Judges this year, the press release added.*
