DHSBNHS spikers eye semis
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

Doņa Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School tries to book a place in the semifinals when it takes on two opponents in the Shakey's 18-Under Girls Volleyball Invitational League Negros Occidental Eliminations at the University of St. La Salle College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

DHSBNHS, which leads the tournament with a 4-0 slate, battles St. Joseph's School-La Salle at 9 a.m. in Court 1, before playing against La Consolacion College-Main at 3 p.m. in Court 2.

A twin victory by the La Carlota-based DHSBNHS squad would mean that it will improve to 6-0 and would be assured of a spot in the final four. Second running in the team standings is SJS-La Salle at 3-1, while LCC-Main has a 2-1 win-loss card. St. Benilde School and Negros Occidental High School have 2-2 slates each, while Doņa Monserrat Lopez Memorial High School is at 1-2. The USLS and Bata National High School volleybelles have 1-3 and 0-4 win-loss records, respectively.

La Salle, mentored by Malot Lozada, collides with BNHS at 10 a.m., before facing NOHS at 4 p.m. Both games will be showcased in Court 1, where LCC-Main clashes with NOHS at 9 a.m.

In Court 2, St. Benilde hopes to register wins against DMLMHS and Bata at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, while St. Joseph's battles the Doņa Monserrat volleybelles at 4 p.m.

The Negros champion will face the titlists from Manila, Cebu and Iloilo in the Shakey's Tournament of Champions scheduled from June 1 to 3 in Manila.

Supporting the provincial qualifying tournament are Mikasa, the official volleyball of the event, Shakey's, Toby's Sports, Dunkin Donuts, Asics and Air Philippines. *CIT
