Doņa Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School drubbed two opponents yesterday to stay unbeaten in four games in the Shakey's 18-Under Girls' Volleyball Invitational League Negros Occidental Eliminations at the University of St. La Salle College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

The DHSBNHS volleybelles pounded Negros Occidental High School, 25-16, 25-21, before demolishing Doņa Monserrat Lopez Memorial High School, 25-19, 25-13, for a 4-0 win-loss record to grab the lead in the ten-team tournament.

St. Joseph's School-La Salle improved to 3-0 yesterday after scoring triumphs against separate rivals. SJS-La Salle prevailed over Bata National High School, 25-21, 25-22, before escaping NOHS, 25-18, 23-25, 27-29.

USLS also barged into the win column after four games by hammering St. Benilde School, 25-17, 25-17, during their afternoon clash. The La Sallians suffered an 18-25, 21-25 setback at the hands of DMLMHS in the morning encounter.

The SBS volleybelles outlasted La Consolacion College-Main, 25-20, 19-25, 25-19, before the LCC-Main lady spikers bounced back in the afternoon session against Bata by posting a 25-17, 26-24 triumph.

The champion in the Negros tournament, which is sponsored by Mikasa, the official volleyball of the event, Shakey's, Toby's Sports, Dunkin Donuts, Asics and Air Philippines, will see action in the Shakey's Tournament of Champions slated from June 1 to 3 in Manila.

The Negrenses will face the titlists from Manila, Cebu and Iloilo during the national tournament.

Philippine Volleyball Federation president Roger Banzuela said the fare expenses of the Negros, Cebu and Iloilo winners will be shouldered by Air Philippines.

The elimination round in Manila will unfold on April 22, while the Cebu and Iloilo eliminations are scheduled on April 24 and the first week of May, respectively.

Freddie Infante of Metro Sports said 24, 16 and 10 teams, respectively, are expected to participate in the Manila, Cebu and Iloilo eliminations. *CIT
