About 430 sugar worker beneficiaries at Brgy. Salngan,
Passi City, Iloilo province, availed of free medical and dental
services conducted by the Sugar Industry Foundation Inc., recently,
a SIFI press release said.
The medical-dental team composed of Drs. Phoebe
Palomo, Domingo Fortuna, Juan Masna, Christine Laratan and Jhona
Panes conducted medical consultations and giving of medicines to
365 residents; dental extractions to 65 patients; and deworming
of majority of children at Salngan and nearby haciendas, it also
said.
Leading the medical mission, held by SIFI for
the 28th time now, were Jorge Sobrepeņa and Arlene Lozada of SIFI
Panay area, and assisted by the Panay Federation, Jalasig Sugarcane
Planters Association, Passi city government, and Brgy. Capt. Ian
French of Salngan, the press release said.
The prevalent sicknesses in the area were also identified
by SIFI, the press release added.*

The Senior Bikers Association in Bacolod City elected
its officers recently, a press release from the group said.
Elected were Ranulfo Gonzales - president, Teddy
Malubay - vice president, Jori Abad - secretary, Reno Yap - treasurer,
Celistino Tonogbanua - auditor, and members of the Board of Directors
Dulcesimo Abello, Roger Villanueva and Allen Parcon Sr., the press

join sneak preview
for new SKYCable show
An advanced sneak preview for kids of the newest
show called "Go, Diego, Go!" on the Nickelodeon Channel over SKYCable
was held at the Pavilion of the Negros Forest and Ecological Foundation
Inc., in Bacolod City, recently, a SKYCable press release said.
The participants joined various fun activities
and the top five kids received prizes for bringing a picture of
their favorite animals, it also said.
The premiere showing of the pre-school show will
be held April 14, on the Nickelodeon Channel.
The series recounts the adventures of a Latin-American
boy, Diego, who has an ability to talk with animals.
In each episode, he rescues animals who get themselves
into trouble in the rainforests of South America, where his parents
operate an animal rescue center, the press release said. The wonder
boy is aided by his sister, Alicia, his pet Baby Jaguar but not
by two mischievous spider monkeys called the Bobo Brothers, the
press release added.*

fundraising campaign
A fundraising project for building communities for
the poor in the Philippines was held by Gawad Kalinga in Miami,
Florida, recently, a press release from project coordinators said.
Among those who participated in the event were
Negrense Kirsten Regalado with husband, Dr. Larry Regalado and son,
Michael John, who was a guest performer in the affair.
Also present were Filipinos Freda Arzadon, president
of the Philippine Nurses Association of South Florida; Ray Navarro,
coordinator of Gawad Kalinga; and Ilonggos Ana Javellana and Gel
Acuesta, it also said.
Kirsten and Micheal John Regalado are preparing for
a fashion show in Hollywood, California, this summer, the press
release added.*
