Farmer killed over cellphone
BY RENE GENOVE

A farmer was killed after his own attempt to attack his brother-in-law who joked about his alleged ignorance in using a cellphone during a drinking spree at the weekend in Brgy. Tinaogan, Bindoy, Oriental Negros.

Police identified the victim who died a few hours after he was brought to the hospital as Judie Gador, 39, and the suspect, his brother-in-law, Antonio Luquinio, 36, single, both of Sitio Piņahan, Tinaogan, Bindoy.

Police reports said that before the incident, Gador was drinking with his brother in-law and the latter's brother Wenceslao who had just arrived from Manila.

As they got intoxicated by liquor, Gador allegedly tried to borrow Wenceslao's cellphone, but Antonio laughed at him and reportedly said he did not know how to use the unit.

Gador flared up, pulled out his bolo and attacked Antonio who parried the attempt and turned it back hitting Gador in the stomach.

Antonio then fled but he was later arrested by the police. Gador was rushed to the Bindoy District Hospital and was transferred to NOPH but he died at the early hours of the following day.*RG
