Police brace for NPA
attacks on Holy Week
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

The public is being warned against possible attacks by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army during the Holy Week.

Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced yesterday said he has reactivated the Oplan Semana Santa, that started its operations April 1, to prevent possible attacks of the CPP-NPA during the season.

The members of the OSS will also provide security in malls and churches and supervise traffic for the occasion.

Merced also appealed to the CPP-NPA guerillas not to attempt any attacks during the Holy Week because it is a holy occasion. He, however, said the Bacolod police will be ready for any eventuality.*CIT
