Brother of slain
farmer nabbed
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The brother of a rice farmer who was murdered in Barangay Malingin in Bago City last year, was arrested last night by the police for illegal possession of firearms.

Supt. Alex Belonio yesterday identified the suspect as Eleuterio Alvarez, half brother of Jose Alvarez, who was shot dead by still unidentified gunman in Bago City.

Belonio said the raid on the house of Eleuterio in Purok Marang Baranagy Malingin Bago City conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Herminigildo Octaviano, yielded a homemaid 357 magnum revolver, a caliber 22 rifle, and assorted live ammunition.

Police investigations show that Eleuterio was the business associate of his half brother, Jose, who was engaged in rice farming in the area.

Belonio who is still wondering why Eleuterio refused to allow an autopsy on the body of his half brother, said they are looking into the possibility of a family feud in the killing of Jose. Eleuterio is now detained at the Bago City PNP jail.*GPB
