spikers clash for lead

Negros Occidental High School and Doņa Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School eye the solo lead when they battle at 9 a.m. today in the Shakey's 18-Under Girls' Volleyball Invitational League Negros Occidental Eliminations at the University of St. La Salle College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

The NOHS volleybelles posted victories against Bata National High School, 25-22, 25-11, and Doņa Monserrat Lopez Memorial High School, 25-23, 25-23, Monday for a share in the lead with a 2-0 slate. DHSBNHS started its campaign Monday with a 25-13, 25-16 triumph over St. Benilde School, before demolishing BNHS, 25-1, 25-12.

After losing their first two games, the La Sallians hope to barge into the win column when they take on DMLMHS and SBS in court 1 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, while DHSBNHS plays its second game of the day at 3 p.m. against the Doņa Monserrat volleybelles. In court 2, St. Joseph's School-La Salle collides with Bata and NOHS at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, while La Consolacion College-Main will play St. Benilde and BNHS at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

The Negros titlist will clash with the champions from Manila, Cebu and Iloilo in the Shakey's Tournament of Champions scheduled from June 1 to 3 in Manila.

The Manila eliminations is set April 22, while the elimination rounds in Iloilo and Cebu will kick off on April 24 and the first week of May, respectively.

The Negros eliminations is being supported by Shakey's, Dunkin Donuts, Toby's Sports, Air Philippines, Asics and Mikasa, the official volleyball of the tournament.*CIT
