Impostor nabbed

A Bacolod City resident was nabbed by the City Mobile Group for allegedly using a fictitious identity to withdraw money from the Bank of the Philippine Islands-Lizares Extension branch, yesterday.

Lisa Zamora, 25, married, of Barangay Felisa was presented to the office of Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced yesterday for presenting a fake postal identification card to withdraw P21,840 over the counter at BPI.

Zamora allegedly stole the ATM card of her cousin Laila Torres, 49, married, of Brgy. Felisa, Monday to withdraw from the latter's savings account. However, the machine captured the ATM card after Zamora failed to put up the correct password, police reports said.

Zamora then reported the incident to BPI assistant manager Mary France Esclaudia and she was advised to withdraw the money over the counter, because she said she really needed the money as her son was confined at the Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital, Rysie Baroba, in-charge of the BPI new accounts, said.

Baroba said that it was known that Zamora was not the real savings account holder because the signature card was different when it was checked by Esclaudia, even if the postal ID had Zamora's picture.

Torres said Zamora stole her wallet, which contained her ATM card and postal ID, among others, Monday and changed the picture on the ID to withdraw the savings.

Erlinda Teodosio, 52, married, of Brgy. Bata said Zamora borrowed money from her yesterday to be used for picture-taking so that she could present her ID to the bank.

Teodosio, a fruit vendor at the Centroplex Mall, said she accompanied Zamora to the Lizares Extension branch of BPI because the latter owes her P74 for the picture-taking.

Torres said Zamora, whose son was not confined at the hospital as she claimed, must have wanted to use the money for gambling.

Torres said she will file a case for theft against Zamora, who is currently detained at the Police Precinct 6 in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City.*CIT

Robber faces raps in Bago

One of the suspects arrested in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, for illegal possession of firearms and whose brother was shot by the police when he pulled out a fragmentation grenade from his pocket, has also been charged with robbery with homicide in Bago City, the police said.

Supt. Alex Belonio yesterday said Gary Hojella who was nabbed for illegal possession of firearms in Talisay City, was identified by a witness as among those who had participated in the robbery-slay of Kagawad Roy Villaflor in Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, last year.

Jimmy Hojella, brother of Gary, who was identified as the one who had shot Villaflor, was also gunned down by the Talisay police late last month, police investigations showed.

The armed Hojella brothers and Efren Tambong were intercepted by the police in Talisay City on March 24, after their attempt to rob a rice retailer was foiled, police chief Jerry Bartolome said. Two .38 caliber revolvers, a .357 magnum caliber revolver and a fragmentation grenade were recovered by the Talisay police from the captured and slain robbery-hold-up suspects.

The six-man robbery-hold-up group, of which the Hojella brothers are members, is headed by rebel returnee Rodelio Oliveros, alias Ka Jim, who has pending arrest warrants for murder, robbery with homicide and rape in Bago City, the police said.

Belonio said the group of Ka Jim has been categorized as "armed and dangerous".*GPB
