Resort group backs PNP

The officers and members of the Negros Oriental Hotel Resort and Restaurant Association have thrown their support to the new leadership of the Philippine National Police in Dumaguete.

Youman Uymatiao, NOHRRA president, said he is confident that the police will be able to address the spate of petty crimes in the city, given the support of all the sectors. He said that these petty crimes should not stop them from doing business in Dumaguete, as he also urged the citizenry to also do their share.

NOHRRA vice president Joey Varela said everybody must understand that the police under the leadership of Supt. Dionardo Carlos, is doing its best, but lack of cooperation will render them inefficient in solving criminality.

He called on the Dumagueteños to give Carlos a chance to prove his worth, even as his operational skills is being tested with at least three major hold-ups in the city.

Carlos continues with his efforts by giving vital information with different sectors in the community.

He had an audience with city hall employees and department heads including different village chiefs of the city last Monday morning.

Carlos had also requested the church to disseminate precautionary measures in aborting crimes and reporting the same to the police. Precautions against snatching, theft, robbery, hold-ups, salisi, break-in, bukas-kotse, among others, were printed in a one-fourth-size paper and distributed to the different barangays and churchgoers in the city.*
