Bacolod officials meet Friday
to tackle gov't center site: dad
BY CEDELF TUPAS

The joint executive-legislative consultation that will take up concerns on the site of the proposed Bacolod government center chosen by Mayor Evelio Leonardia is set on Friday, Councilor Al Victor Espino said yesterday.

Espino, chairman of the chairman of the Committee on Finance and Appropriation, said the consultation will also help clear the issue on the the site of the city center.

Leonardia had issued Executive Order No. 6 on March 14, ordering the construction of a city government center in Brgy. Taculing, said.

Meanwhile, Espino said the Sangguniang Panlungsod is studying the creation of executive-legislative joint proposals to different government banks in relation to the P400-million loan for the construction of the new government center.

"We need to get this project done before our terms end," Espino, who also expressed his support of Leonardia's choice as the site for the new city center, added.

Last week, the Sangguniang Panglungsod unanimously passed a resolution authorizing Leonardia to negotiate a loan of P400 million from any government bank for the government center construction.

But the resolution, proposed by Espino, stated that it does not necessarily mean an approval of the Taculing site but only to expedite the process of securing a loan for the project.

The Executive Order is based on SP Resolution No. 96 dated Jan. 26, "declaring the inadequacy of the present City Hall site and declaring the need for another site to augment the present site."*CPT
