PNP acts on
holdups vs. Indians
BY DONALYN GUERRERO

A conference with all Indian nationals engaged in the lending business in Bacolod City will be held within this month to address robbery with hold-up incidents involving them as victims, Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced said yesterday.

Merced said he is encouraging the Indian nationals engaged in lending, or 5'6 in the city, to cooperate with the Bacolod police especially in filing charges against the suspects they identify as responsible for holding them up. He said he wants to know why those victimized by hold-uppers do not file charges before the court.

On Sunday, Indian national Harry Singh and his companion Nick Villanueva, of Villa Villeta, Brgy. Estefania were waylaid by two unidentified persons who forcibly took their collection of P5,000 in cash, and cellphones, Senior Insp. Joeresty Cornonica, Precinct 3 commander said.

The suspects also took their motorcycle and used it to escape, he added.

He said the police is still facing a blank wall on the identities of the suspects.*DMG
