RTC sportsfest set
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

Employees of the Regional Trial Court will vie for the different titles at stake in the Parole and Probation Sportsfest on May 4 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The RTC competitors will joust for championships in track and field events, basketball, volleyball, and other disciplines that will be staged in the sports festival, Manuel De Oro, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Provincial Sports and Development Office, said.

De Oro said the sports festival will be a national event because the employees of the different RTCs in the Philippines will see action in the competitions.

On the other hand, the Sipalay City local government is holding boxing matches as part of the 2006 provincial mass-based sports program of the PSDO.

The Sipalay City local government is sponsoring the competitions because the Provincial Government is still deliberating the budget for the 2006 edition of the grassroots sports project, which was launched last year, De Oro said.

Boxing was a part of the disciplines that were launched by PSDO in Negros last year as well as swimming and athletics. *CIT
