Summer camp lined up
BY CHRISTIAN IRL TAN

A summer volleyball camp in Negros Occidental to develop the skills of volleyball players in the grassroots level, is being planned by Shakey's, Freddie Infante of Metro Sports said yesterday.

Infante, who is also one of the organizers of the ongoing Shakey's 18-Under Girls Volleyball Invitational League, said the tentative schedule for the camp is from April 20-May 20 at the University of St. La Salle College Covered Court in Bacolod City.

He said the volleyball clinic aims to be the beginning of luring more players to the sports, which was once dominated by the Philippines in the Southeast Asian region.

"We have so many tall players in the country who only want to engage in basketball. It's about time that they should also be encouraged to play volleyball so that they could help our national team in the future," Infante told the DAILY STAR.

Through the camp, the spikers' skills could be maximized because they will be tackling a step-by-step process to enhance their talents, he said.

The proposed camp will be open to all volleyball enthusiasts in Negros, he said, adding that Shakey's is also mulling to host a volleyball clinic in Manila. *CIT
