Suspect in shooting
not CIDG asset: police
The Bacolod police yesterday filed frustrated homicide
charges before the City Prosecutor's Office against an alleged CIDG
asset who reportedly shot a 30-year-old man in front of the Bistro
at Burgos Street in Bacolod City at about 10 p.m. Saturday.
Insp. Levy Pangue, Precinct 2 commander, yesterday
said they filed charges against Henry Pormenter Saldejeno, 54, of
Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City for allegedly shooting Rey Lagantol
Bacani of Purok Pag-asa, Fortune Towne, Brgy. Estefania.
Pangue said their investigation showed that Saldejeno
was not connected with the Criminal Investigation and Detection
Group as an asset as he claimed. Saldejeno also refused to undergo
a paraffin test, he added.
Pangue said they failed to recover the firearm
reportedly used by Saldejeno in shooting Bacani who is still confined
at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
Initial reports said that the shooting started when
Bacani and his two companions reportedly slammed with their hands
on the pick-up of Saldejeno, which caused an altercation.*DMG

The Bacolod police is preparing to file charges of
alarm and scandal, resistance, and disobedience to an agent in authority
against the younger brother of actor and taekwondo expert Monsour
del Rosario, before the City Prosecutor's Office.
Mark Perfecto del Rosario, 19, of Lizares Avenue,
Brgy. 39, Bacolod City was apprehended Friday for allegedly assaulting
Senior Insp. Joeresty Coronica and SPO1 Jeanny Arellano who were
conducting a checkpoint in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City, police
reports said.
Coronica said Del Rosario posted bail and was
released from jail Friday afternoon. He said he is ready to face
whatever countercharges will be filed against him by Del Rosario.
Reports said earlier that Del Rosario, who was with
two companions, shouted that there was a "bomb" when the police
flagged down their blue Pajero at the checkpoint area. The incident
alerted Coronica and his men, but they arrested Del Rosario after
his allegation turned out to be a hoax.
Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced
