Star Power for Clean Power

In an interesting reversal of roles, the country's popular stars are now the ones gathering support from their fans in support of the international organization Greenpeace's energy campaign.

Deeply involved in the pro-environment campaign are, among others, Amanda Griffin, Agot Isidro, Rica Peralejo, Edu Manzano, Bayani Agbayani, Ala Paredes, Epi Quizon, Vandolph, Tado, Erik Santos, Anne Curtis, Christian Bautista and Randy Santiago.

"I want to put out the message that it's not too late to start doing something," she explains, "Everything that every person does helps no matter how small it is, " Amanda said.

Rica, on the other hand, said: "I checked out the Greenpeace campaign and found out it's a good cause," Rica said in an interview about her involvement with the environmental group. With support from Rica, Greenpeace was able to film Aga Mulach, Edu Manzano, and Bayani Agbayani saying "Say no to coal, yes to clean energy. Now!" Edu Manzano also taped a message promoting clean energy in Ilonggo.

Also doing his share is the country's R & B Prince, JayR, who, despite his hectic schedule, found time to support the Greenpeace campaign for clean energy. In a 15-second video he recorded for the international environmental group, JayR called on his fans to support Greenpeace and clean energy. "By the year 2010," said JayR in the clip, "10 percent of our power must come from the sun, the wind and modern biomass."

Actor Diether Ocampo is also in the frontline of the Greenpeace campaign. "The answer is blowin' in the wind," says Diether in a 15-second mess
