Sixteen injured
in EB Magalona

Sixteen persons were injured when a Cebro jeepney bound for Escalante City hit a taxi at 7 p.m. yesterday in Barangay Sto. Niņo, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The E.B. Magalona Police Station is still investigating the cause of the accident and had not come up with a report as of press deadline.

Among those injured were three Bacolod residents --- driver Aldrin Villanueva, 32 and his passengers Luisa Villanueva, 32, and Gina Villamor, 22, reports from DYEZ-Aksyon Radyo said last night. The three taxi passengers are from Barangay Handumanan.

DYEZ-Aksyon Radyo reports said Aldrin Villanueva was the most seriously injured among the 16, sustaining wounds on his head and hands.

Initial reports said that the taxi was turning to the Hda. Sto. Niņo road when it was hit by the Cebro jeepney.

Also injured were Victorias residents Daryl Hilado, 18; Arlyn Monteroso, 30; Ma. Luz Taneses, 45 and Iris Osano, 18; Riniza Sumpay, 42, and Natalie dela Cruz, 3, from E.B. Magalona; Geraldine Gonzales, 19 and May dela Cruz, 18, from Isabela.

They were brought to the Silay City Provincial Hospital.

Vicente dela Cruz, 42, the driver of the Cebro jeepney from Silay City, and his companion Rudy dela Cruz, 21, were also injured. Two victims were still unidentified up to press deadline last night.*CPT
