Ayala cagers claim crown

Ayala-Bacolod toppled High Flex, 72-55, to claim the 3rd Ayala Basketball Tournament crown at the Ayala Northpoint Clubhouse in Talisay City recently.

Jacob Pimentel and Juan Mig Golez scored 14 points apiece and Niel Lizares added 10 to help Ayala win another crown in the inter-club event. Also coming up with solid contributions were Cedric Somera with 14 points and Gordon Uy with 9.

Ayala broke loose as early as the first half and sustained its relentless attack in the fourth quarter with Lizares and Pimentel at the helm. Brian Puentevella, Nicky Puentevella, Peter Locsin, Junjit Varela and Erick Jeresa also boosted the Ayala title bid by combining for 17 points. In the first game, N and G Construction, buoyed by Elmer Dado's 20 points and Lee Alejo's 18, won third place, after drubbing Ayala-Makati, 71-53.

High Flex was paced by Marvin Tan and Clinton Legaspi, who made 20 and 18 points, respectively. Tan and Legaspi, however, failed to get enough support with only three other players scoring for High Flex.

Tony Agustin chipped in 8, while Wiggy Colmenares joined hands for 9 points.*CPT
