Dizon chessfest set

The 7th Raymundo Dizon Jr, Memorial Chess Tournament is slated Oct. 29-30 at the University of St. La Salle Integrated Covered Court in Bacolod City.

RRDJr. Memorial Foundation executive director Fernando Belleza said the two-day competition aims to discover new talents in chess not only in Bacolod City but throughout Negros Occidental.

Participants will vie in four categories with the kiddies division featuring elementary students enrolled in school-year 2004-2005, while the junior's contest is for high school students also enrolled in the current school-year, Belleza said.

The event, held in memory of former Bacolod mayor and chess enthusiast, Raymundo R. Dizon Jr., is jointly undertaken by the RRDJr. Memorial Foundation, USLS Varsity Sports Office and the Chess Players Federation of Negros, Inc. *CPT
