The Sunshine Boys, a group of local professionals,
businessmen, and planters turned over to the Negros Press Club a
donation of two three-tonner wall air-conditioning units with the
unveiling of the marker at the NPC building last night.
Dr. Ricardo Yanson, SB chairman, and his assistant
lawyer William Mirano, president of the local Integrated Bar of
the Philippines chapter, turned over the airconditioners to Negros
Press Club president Primo Esleyer with the unveiling of the marker,
a press release from the club said yesterday.
The affair was attended by other SB members,
officials and members of the NPC. The SB were also among those who
donated earlier air conditioners to the 21 salas of the local courts
at the Hall of Justice, the project of IBP president William Mirano.
Last week, Mirano also inaugurated his mini-post
office and emergency clinic at the Hall of Justice. The two were
projects of the SB. The NPC project is underwritten by all the 21
members of SB. Esleyer said, with this air-conditioning facilities
NPC can now be a venue for seminars and other functions.
The SB members, according to Esleyer, are Hermes
Aguilar, Bob Chugani, Nordy Diploma, Honesto Galves, Eddie de Guzman,
Marcelo Jalando-on, William Mirano, Alejandro Mirasol, Pompeyo Querubin,
Jose Ramos, Baldomeo Rio, Jr., Antonio Sarabia, Cirilo Lancepuedes,
Felicito Sanson, Ernesto Taelon, Ricardo Yanson and Arsenio Yulo,

Extemporaneous
speaking contest held
An extemporaneous speaking competition was held recently
as part of the 55th National Mental Health Week celebration of the
Philippine Mental Heath Association Negros Occidental-Bacolod Chapter,
in Bacolod City.
The contest on the theme, "Mental and Physical
Health Across the Life Span", was participated in by Psychology
students of Colegio San Agustin, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos,
University of St. La Salle, and Riverside College, all in Bacolod.
Lyka Marie Magay of USLS won the first place,
with Mary Grace Libo-on of Riverside, second, and Santa Mae Atesora
of UNO-R third, a press release from the group said yesterday.
Judges were Joanne Marie Jomalesa, Ma.Puna Sanz,
and Sherlou Labrador.*
