First mover incentive
for call center okayed

The Dumaguete City Sanggunian will discuss this week a proposal to grant a first-mover incentive for the first call center to open in the city.

The incentive will give the first call center to operate in the city a three-year breathing space without competition from similar businesses.

Mayor Agustin Perdices said he expects the proposed ordinance not to specify any company, and that the first-comer will automatically benefit from the business for the next three years.

He said he has received many offers to open the business in Dumaguete but, so far, none have concretized their intention

The call firm Teletech had earlier presented a three-year incentive as a condition to start operation in Dumaguete.

Negros Oriental Gov. George Arnaiz had earlier said he backing the proposal of Teletech, adding that, many similar companies have preferred to establish businesses in Iloilo and other provinces.*RG
