Mayor seeks P2.5M
for MassKara dancers

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said he has requested for a supplemental budget of P2.5 million from the Sangguniang Panlungsod for the 25 participating tribes in the barangay category during the 26th MassKara Festival in Bacolod City this month.

Leonardia said he hopes the SP will approve his request next week. He said he is happy to note that 25 tribes are joining in the festival, which shows an increase in terms of number compared to last year. During his terms, Leonardia said this is the first time when 25 groups will be participating in the festival, he added. "I do not want to spoil the enthusiasm of the people," he said.

Meanwhile, Leonardia said he is also hoping that the public will cooperate with the plan of putting the pageant night for Miss Masskara 2005 at the Bacolod public plaza. He said the pageant was made for the people and they deserve to enjoy it, though, it can not raise funds this way.*DMG
