Victims of fake raids
urged to file charges

The National Bureau of Investigation is urging Negrenses victimized through illegal raids conducted by people claiming to be members of the NBI in search of illegal computer software, to file complaints so action can be taken, NBI Bacolod chief Philip Pecache said yesterday,

So far, we have not received any complaint, he said.

We will not tolerate any misconduct from anyone claiming to be a member of the NBI, he said.

He reiterated that NBI agents who conduct raids on computer software must be duly authorized to do so and armed with Court-issued search warrants.

The seizing officer must also furnish those raided with inventory receipts, witnessed and signed by two responsible persons in the community, Pecache said.

Meanwhile, Pecache said the NBI is recruiting lawyers, accountants and graduates of four year courses to be trained to become NBI special investigators or investigating agents.

The NBI is undermanned nationwide and is in need of additional personnel who will be trained at the NBI training academy.

He said that, while the NBI is undermanned in Bacolod, they can always call in augmentation forces if needed, he said.*CPG
