Champion swimmers
take the plunge
Love in the deep ended with wedding bells when winning swimmers
Robbie Tan, son of Insular Life honcho Sergie Tan and religious
leader Menchi Melocoton wed Giselle Sanchez, lawyer-daughter of
civic leader George Sanchez and prima ballerina Janette Garcia,
at the Shrine of St. Jude. The church was literally dripping in
white lilies, Colombian roses, gerberas and golden dancing ladies
which was apt for the bride's dancing family. On the part of the
groom's family, the sedate, select crowd that attended the nuptials
was a proclamation of their Christian commitment to serve the community
through the Christian Family Movement and the Diocese of Bacolod
as Bishop Vicente Navarra, himself, led the four other concelebrants
of the Holy Mass.
Obviously, the beautiful arrangements, the divine, frothy wedding
gown, the dramatic and striking sheaths of the entourage down to
the table settings in the reception were done by the bride's uncle,
Iloilo top designer Bing Sanchez-who flew in straight from the US
with cabbage roses in hand for the bridal bouquet. Bing brought
in even the jewel-toned table runners tipped with beaded tassles
for this special occasion. Definitely in love, the newly weds received
their guests at a luncheon reception in busy, busy Business Inn's
grand ballroom where attentive hotelier GV Tanpinco and sister Fatima
made sure that the service was impeccable.
As the bride's lovable sister, Gianne, mentioned in her welcome
speech to the groom, he'd better start rehearsing for the next family
affair because he will be expected to dance along with the whole
family. As Robbie blushed a deep crimson, I wondered if he would
ever get a chance to don some ballet shoes! To the groom and bride,
may you dive into life's colorful destiny with prayerful bliss!!
MY PRAYER
Dearest God, if love grows between us: may we imitate your love
to the fullest; may this love be willing to accept sacrifices; may
this love be pure and sacred!*
