RP XI sends strong
message despite loss

Digging deep into its arsenal and refusing to get rattled, Thailand managed to scrounge out a 1-0 win over the Philippines last night but a clear message was sent: The RP booters are no longer pushovers in Southeast Asia.

Even Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin was all praises for the Philippine Team that has been considered the minnows of SEA football for a long time.

"The Philippines played very, very well. It has improved a lot but a win is still a win no matter what the score-line," he said

Lady booters open
bid versus Thailand

Boosted by a seven-month extensive training, the Philippine women's football team gets a chance to exact revenge for their male counterparts when it takes on Thailand in the Southeast Asian Games at the Marikina Sports Park in Marikina City.

Head coach Marlon Maro, a member of the RP squad that finished 4th in the SEA Games in 1991, will guide a women's squad loaded with experience and full of youthful potential.

The RP lady booters are expected to go all-out against Thailand, knowing that the men's team lost, 1-0, to the Thais in Bacolod City.

Malaysian Indon
spikers arriving today

The volleyball contingents of Malaysia and Indonesia that will see action in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games will plane in at 5 p.m. in Bacolod City today.

The Malaysia beach volleyball squads will be billeted at the Casino Filipino Hotel, while the Thailand men and women's indoor volleyball teams will proceed to the Grand Regal Hotel.

The Malaysian male spikers are expected to have a tough match when they clash with the RP squads in Day One of the SEA Games beach volleyball tournament on Nov. 30 at the University of St. La Salle ballfield.
