Malaysian Indon
spikers arriving today

The volleyball contingents of Malaysia and Indonesia that will see action in the 23rd Southeast Asian Games will plane in at 5 p.m. in Bacolod City today.

The Malaysia beach volleyball squads will be billeted at the Casino Filipino Hotel, while the Thailand men and women's indoor volleyball teams will proceed to the Grand Regal Hotel.

The Malaysian male spikers are expected to have a tough match when they clash with the RP squads in Day One of the SEA Games beach volleyball tournament on Nov. 30 at the University of St. La Salle ballfield.

Malaysia hopes to nullify the home-court advantage when it takes on Pulupandan's Rhovyl Verayo and Parely Tupaz, who will banner the RP team A, at 2 p.m., before clashing with team B of the national squad that is composed of Filipino-Americans Chad Mowrey and Justin Schonmor at 5 p.m.

Team B of the Malaysia women's beach volleyball team will battle Indonesia's team B in the opening game at 7 a.m., while its team A will square off with Vietnam at 11 a.m.

Defending men's champion Indonesia aims to begin its title-run against Myanmar at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, after host Philippines, which finished third in the 2003 SEA Games in Vietnam, collides with Timor Leste at 2 p.m.

The women's squad of Indonesia is expected to have an uphill climb when it plays reigning titlist Thailand at 10 a.m. on Nov. 29. *CIT
