The Sangguniang Panlungsod last week approved
a resolution supporting the celebration by declaring the period
from November 24 to Dec. 1, 2005 as Peace Week in Bacolod City.
The resolution jointly sponsored by Councilors Batapa-Sigue and
Ana Marie Palermo encouraged the people of Bacolod, either by groups,
or individually, to join the call for peace.
This year's theme is "Building A Culture of Peace
in Negros" and the logo, was carried from the initial celebration
in 2004 which was illustrated by famous Negrense Peque Gallaga.
The bird is actually not a dove but a "tikling" hovering above sugarcane
with the bright yellow sun and the light blue horizon serving as
background.
Those interested in the activities throughout the
week, one can contact the Peace Week 2005 Secretariat at the Negros
Museum at 431-9451.*
