The Philippine Medical Women's Association-Negros
Occidental Chapter won the Dr. Carmen Lopez Awards for being the
most outstanding chapter for 2005, and Dr. Jocelyn Gayares as the
most outstanding president. The awards were presented at the MWIA
8th Western Pacific Congress and PMWA 56th Annual Convention at
the Manila Hotel, in Manila, recently.
A press release from the group said yesterday
that the chapter also won awards for the most active chapter in
prevention alert system; most active chapter in promotion of breast
feeding and expanded immunization program; Dr. Remedios Arellano
Award for community service; Dr. Carmen Asuncion Award for most
outstanding chapter in cancer detection; Dr, Fe Canlas Dizon Award
for most outstanding child to child welfare service; Dr. Rosario
Bustos-Atencio Award for chapter with best adopt-a-barangay program;
Dr. Elena Ines-Cuyegkeng Award for most outstanding chapter in youth
development; and the Dr. Carmelita Belmonte-Cuyugan Award for most
outstanding nutrition promotion activities.
The PMWA-Negros Occidental Chapter officers
are Drs. Ma. Jocelyn Gayares - president, Myra Rhodora Hurboda -
vice president, Ma. Cristina Eusebio - secretary, Therese Marie
Geolingo - treasurer, Ma. Victoria Ravina - PRO, and Sarah Bangit,
Nida Isabel de la Peņa, Cherryl Francia, Ma. Ceres Gay, Dimple Gerogalin,
Serotina Gonzales, Ester Javellana, Mary Rose Lao, and Mythel Mogul,
Mary Abbie Lyn Tan, and Fe Valenzuela, members of the board of directors.
Drs. Antonia Erlinda de los Reyes and Erlinda de
los Reyes are the immediate past president and vice president for
Western Visayas, respectively, the press release added.*
