Joint panel conducts caucus
on BREDCO issue today

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said he has already created the joint executive-legislative panel to start renegotiation with the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp, through an executive order signed last week.

After the review of the Comprehensive Revised Reclamation between the city and BBREDCO, Leonardia had recommended that both the executive and legislative jointly pursue renegotiation with BREDCO for 60 days.

He also said that, in case of failure of renegotiation within that period, a takeover should be vigorously pursued by the city.

Leonardia said Roger Balo, Secretary to the Mayor, has informed the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod that a caucus will be held today at 3 p.m. at the City Mayor's Office so they can start organizing and preparing the agenda, before they talk with the representatives of BREDCO, he said.

Leonardia said they may invite the participation of the private sector as observers or resource persons and also entertain suggestions from the public that may enlighten them and give them a better view of the negotiation.

"I'm confident that we will be able to arrive at an agreement that has the acceptance of the public," he said.

The legislative panel is composed of Councilors Ana Marie Palermo, Napoleon Cordova, Al Victor Espino, Elmer Sy and Arturo Parreņo, chairmen of the Committees on Laws and Good Government, Government Assets, Appropriation, Urban Development and Ways and Means, respectively.

Leonardia heads the executive panel which is composed of Secretary to the Mayor Roger Balo, City Legal Officer Allan Zamora, City Engineer Loreto Dilag, City Treasurer Florentino Guanco and City Planning Officer Lemuel Reynaldo.*CGS
