Negrense pugs may join
int'l tilts in January

Negrense boxers, who showcased strong performances during the 23rd Southeast Asian Games in Bacolod City, are expected to join other Filipino pugs in competing in 15 international tournaments next year.

SEA Games gold medalists Joan Tipon of Talisay City and Bagoeño Juanito Magliquian will most likely be parts of the boxing squads that will see action internationally in preparation for the Asian Games and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Silver medalists Mark Jason Melliguen of Bacolod City and Bagoeños Reynaldo Galido and Joegen Ladon are also expected to earn slots in the international stints together with Cadiz City's Warlito Parreñas, who snared a bronze medal during the biennial meet.

A squad will depart for India on the first week of January 2006 to see action in the Asian Invitational International Boxing Championships in Pimpri Chinchiwad, before another team will fly to Pakistan for the 3rd Greenhill Cup from Feb. 12 to 18.

Also lined up for the Filipino boxers are stints in the Commonwealth Games, the Mayor's Cup and a tournament in Finland, among others before the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar next year. *CIT
