Mayor inaugurates
Health Plus Botica

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia inaugurated yesterday the first Health Plus Botica sa Barangay in Brgy. 29, Bacolod City which is being operated by the Brgy. 29 Multipurpose Cooperative.

Leonardia also turned over P100,000 as the city's share in the projects and other undertakings of the cooperative, a press release from City Hall said.

The Health Plus Botica sa Barangay is part of the Social Franchising in the Philippine Pharmaceutical Sector, a joint project of the Philippine government and the Federal Republic of Germany through the Department of Health, the release said.

Leonardia said the project is meant to benefit every individual Filipino, considering that the Philippines is one of the nations with the highest prices of medicine. He also urged the residents of Brgy. 29 to support the project since the medicines are expected to cost 40 percent less than the "branded" medicines.

Also inaugurated were the barangay refreshment and consumer store of Brgy. 29.

Executive Assistant Butch Soliguen facilitated the turnover of P36,000 financial assistance to 20 residents of Brgy. 29 who were victims of a fire last Nov. 2, 2005.

Meanwhile, the municipal officials of Pangasinan led by Mayor Guillermo Piso passed a resolution expressing gratitude and deepest appreciation to the officials of Bacolod City after their educational tour in the city on Oct. 19, 2005.

Resolution No. 197 was signed by Asingan Secretary to the Sangguniang Bayan Diosdado Balanga and approved by Piso.

The educational tour was aimed to realize the relevance and influence of governance in making the town of Asingan competitive with the nearby towns and cities in terms of development and balanced economy, it said. It also aims to make the Asingan environment friendly, attractive and a safe haven, as well as, to decentralize developments, it added.*
