Bringing much needed fresh air to the gargantuan Bacolod Convention Plaza Hotel is the new Allegria Bar, which takes the place of the old Pantalan. It's a perfect venue for gatherings and intimate parties for the silver and golden groupies that seem to have no place to get together nowadays-all the new places seem to be concentrating on the young-on-the-go Brat Packs…

With classy interiors done by Raymond Fuentes, top interior designer (he did our National Museum) and now top asset interior design professor at LCC, Allegria Bar boasts of lounge chairs in neo-classic prints and neutral colors that complement the massive wooden columns that was the trademark of the old Pantalan Bar. It features live bands during the weekend.

It was a classy opening with Bernard Cusi making sure we got our favorite brandy and cola mix. With my head spinning and my spirits wheeling, I had to take a seat and sedate myself with the presence of my adorable Visayan DAILY STAR Editor-in-Chief and President, Ninfa Leonardia and math-wiz Perla Leonardia. Breezing in for a rare appearance were Pain Management Dr. Arnel Chua and fashionable Internist Dr. Mai Leviste-Chua. As the band played all-time favorites, I perked up just long enough to tell Bacolod Convention Plaza Hotel's top asset Fini Alonso that Allegria Bar is the shot-in-the-arm needed for the city's older generation nocturnal activities.

MY PRAYER

Dear Lord, You inspired Father Gratian to be an inspiring model of steadfast faith and zeal in his life of ministering to children who are orphaned and abandoned, and with an extra ordinary kindness and spirit of service in his call to the priesthood. Grant that he may be venerated and imitated in Your own time, as one of the Church's canonized saints.*
