go for Tubod Palaro

The best student-athletes in the country are expected to converge in Tubod, Lanao del Norte to see action in the 2003 Palarong Pambansa set October 25 - 29 as preparations by the organizing Philippine Sports Commission shift to high gear.

Buhain is optimistic that student-athletes will be in top condition when the school-based multi-sports event is finally staged at the sprawling Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod.

P3.5M Balbina Cup opens today

Top-notch cockfighting action unfolds today at the Gallera de Pontevedra in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, as the 10th edition of Balbina Cup begins.

The country's top cock breeders and cockfighting aficionados are in town for the 7-stag, P3.5 million derby. Action is expected to start after lunch.

Entries are still being accepted today for matches tomorrow. Championship is set Oct. 26, said GdP manager Efren Apurado.

YBAC President's Cup lead

Caltex LPG continued its dominance over AC Parts with a no-mercy 89-71 triumph as LG absorbed its fifth straight loss, 71-96, from B-Meg in the Your Basketball Athletic Club President's Cup Friday at the Manville Royalle Gym in Bacolod City.

The Gasmakers, now tied with the Partsmen with 4-1 win-loss slate, faces B-Meg at 6 p.m., while AC Parts tangles with sponsoring LG at 7:30 as the elimination round ends.

A two-way tie ensues if both teams win tonight but tournament chairman Dennis Adon has the formula to break the draw.
