Bacoleņos, Manilans split top honors
IN 2003 MASSKARA BOWLFEST

Bacolod and Manila keglers split the honors in the 2nd Negros Professional Bowlers Club National Trio Invitational Masskara Bowling Championship that ended Sunday at the Goldenfields Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

SR Bowler-Bacolod, mentored by Steven Be, subdued Lady Dragons, another home team, in the finals, 344-340, to bring home the Cong. Apolinario Lozada, Jr. Cup.

Playing for the champion squad were Sylvia Damondamon, Leah Javier, Juliet Regollo and Arlene Memoria, while Betsy Tan, Clara Pajarilla and Cecil Biendo saw action for the Dragons.

Duckpin Bowlers Association of Iloilo was second runner-up after absorbing defeat in the hands of SR B, 342-348.

D'Friendly - Manila, composed of Alex Lopez, Joemarie Arevalo and Dionilo Sarvida, topped the men's trio contest by defeating Pioneer-Bacolod represented by Roger Flores, Steve Ramos and Ben Buencochillo, 399-397, in the up-the-ladder system.

SR - Bacolod settled for third.

SR Navistar's Ben Pison, and Betsy Tan, of Lady Dragons - Bacolod emerged as master bowlers in the men and women's singles competition.

First and second runners-up in the mistaf category were Jess Callanta, Cainta Duckpin Bowlers, and Bert Sales of SODA-Manila.

DUBAI's Karen Rendaje and Manila's Cecil Ubana were runners up in the distaff corner.

The top qualifiers were Jaime Chua, Tough Trucks/GCL Car Care-Bacolod, with 449 in three games, and Melba Remo, of Batangas, with 399 pinfalls.

In the mixed doubles, the winners were Girlie de Guzman and Eddie Iligan; Susan Robles and Jaime Chua, first runner-up, and Vey Manolo and Jun Matalote, second.

Abe Leong and Susan Robles, both of NPBC Active, were the record markers in the singles contest with 163 and 161, respectively.

D'Friendly-Manila took the record in highest triples by a team with 1,176 and 1,023 in the men and women's brackets.

NPBC president Raul Corteza, Edgar Allan Del Rosario and Inez Magbual, PHIDBC chairman distributed the prizes to the winners.*HLG
