Bank okays lot sale to
Tangub squatters

The proposal of the Tangub Community Homeowners Association Inc. to buy a portion of its foreclosed property at Purok Paghidaet, Brgy. Tangub Bacolod City at P600 per square meter has been approved by Banco Filipino.

TCHAI president Patria Gerada, however, said the bank is giving them only 60 days to pay for the 3.95 hectares property amounting to P18 million, which squatter families like them cannot afford.

She said she will present the bank's proposal to the TCHAI, composed of 117 families, to get their reaction. They also want to inquire from Banco Filipino if their association can be given authority to invite other interested parties to purchase available lots.

Cadiz port
inauguration set Friday

The Cadiz City government will hold groundbreaking rites for its P199 million-commercial port Friday in Barangay Banquerohan.

The program will start at 2 p.m. with a mass to be officiated by Sto. Niņo parish priest Fr. Jojo Opalda, a press release from Cadiz City Hall said, adding that groundbreaking rites and the laying of the time capsule will follow.

Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said the port will make Cadiz a premier city and a gateway to and from Negros Occidental.

Smart inks SMS pact with PRC

Smart Communications Inc. recently signed an agreement with the Professional Regulation Commission to provide Filipino professionals with a direct communication line to the regulatory body, a press release from the company said.

In the memorandum of agreement, Smart committed to provide a dedicated text channel where the public can make inquiries as well as air their concerns straight to the PRC.
