About 8,000 delegates from all over the country will
convene at the Folk Arts Theater on Nov. 30 for the Aksyon Demokratiko
national convention to launch the presidential candidacy of former
senator and education secretary Raul Roco, a press release from
his office said.
Called the Convention of Hope, the Aksyon delegates
will be joined by allied delegates from the PROMDI and Reporma parties,
Roco political supporters from the 8th Congress as well as representatives
from 25 Roco-for-President volunteer organizations, the press release
said.
PROMDI, headed by former Cebu governor Lito Osmeņa
and Reporma, headed by defense secretary Renato de Villa, are the
main political allies of Aksyon Demokratiko.
Supporters from the 8th Congress of 1987-1992
include Reps. Hermie Aquino, Oscar Orbos, Boji Cabochan, Edno Joson,
Jerry Paras, Rene Dragon, Al Lopez, Arden Anni, Bert Lumauig, Jun
Ong, Honor Aquino, Tony Aquino, Jules Ozamis, Luz Bakunawa, Jojo
Beltran, Jun Paredes, Al Bandon, Larry de Pedro, Mars Pineda, Joe
Calingasan, Ching Plaza, Nits Camasura, Joe Ramirez, Ronnie Cosalan,

to announce their support for Roco who is a consistent leader in
the presidential polls, the press release added. The convention

officers get awards
Two information officers of the National Food Authority
in Region 6 were awarded as Best Performing Information Officers
in the region during the recent year-end conference and awards of
the Philippine Information Agency at River Queen Hotel, Iloilo City.
Judith Tindog of NFA Aklan and Gladdys Gallano
of NFA Antique received the award for their performance in 2003.
Tindog has been a recipient of the award for three consecutive years,
while it is the second for Gallano. The NFA is the only agency to
have two awardees in this year's list of 10, its press release said.
Rep. Apolinario Lozada (5th District, Negros
Occidental) who was guest of honor in the affair, underscored
the importance of information officers.
The election of the five members of the board of
directors of the Visayas Communicators Network was also held during
the conference and Grizelda Arceņo, PIO of NFA Negros Occidental,
was elected as one of the members.*
