Laborer facing homicide raps

Homicide charges will be filed today against a laborer, who stabbed to death a Bacolod resident Sunday in a vacant lot in Purok Carvic, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

SPO1 Nilo Sumagaysay of the Bacolod City Police Office Precinct 3, yesterday said he will file the case today against Leonardo Cinco Prado, alias Wingky, 30, who is the suspect in the death of Bonifacio Catalino Lobaton, 36, single, of Purok Carvic, Brgy. Mandalagan at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lobaton succumbed to a lone stab wound in his chest, allegedly inflicted by Prado, who is now detained at the BCPO PP3. The bladed weapon used in stabbing Lobaton was recovered from the crime scene. Sumagaysay said the incident stemmed from the conflict between Lobaton's cousin, Joshua Catalino, 20, who got angry after being ordered by Prado to go home. Catalino was also threatened with bodily harm by Prado, who was under the influence of alcoholic liquor, the policeman added.

Lobaton, who was in the area, responded to the commotion and tried to pacify the fight. He was, however, boxed in his chest by Prado, so he ran after him, Sumagaysay said.

Prado, on the other hand said, Lobaton chased him with a cane, and three others, who were armed with G.I pipes.

Prado then stabbed Lobaton in the chest, the policeman added. Lobaton was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.*JJD
