De Villa endorses Roco
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Renato de Villa, presidential adviser on strategic concerns, who also heads the Reporma Party, yesterday said he has endorsed Raul Roco as his nominee to be the presidential candidate of the People Power Coalition.

Lito Osmeņa who heads PROMDI has endorsed Roco as his candidate, said de Villa, who was in Bacolod City, yesterday.

However, if President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo decides to run for President in 2004 "We will have to react to it when it happens," he said.

"If she runs it will be point of decision for us. We will have to consult everybody in the party. It will not be my decision alone," de Villa said.

De Villa, who had ran for President in 1998, said he has no political plans for 2004.

However, Reforma, which he heads, will continue to be active in the elections of 2004, de Villa said.

A number of local officials who belong to Reforma will continue to run under the party, he said.

De Villa explained that the People Power Coalition composed of Reporma, Promdi, Aksyon Demokratiko of Roco and Arroyo was formed in Cebu on October 2000 before EDSA 2.

I am assuming that the PPC will remain intact and we will select only one candidate for president, he said.*CPG
